Follow the Wave
I am not a professional astrologer. I am a professional counselor and an avid follower of astrology and how it may impact our lives. Twice a year there is “eclipse” season. Everyone knows what a lunar or solar eclipse is, when the sun or moon eclipses the other in the sky and appears to block one or the other out. In astrology, it is theorized that eclipse season brings great change, amplified energy, and “eclipsing” things out of your life that are no longer serving. It is said eclipse season is a time to allow the intensified energy to work in your life, rather than you actively trying to “work” the energy of a new or full moon as one would any other month of the year.
With that background, let’s think about the new moon in Cancer eclipse that occurred on July 2nd. A new moon still means new beginnings, good starting energy and a positive time to get on top of a new project. The eclipse simply amplifies your efforts, an effect that will keep impacting you for six months following the eclipse. This can be strong and uncomfortable energy. It may be asking you to forgive, move on, start again before you really feel ready. Can you trust the energy and the universe that has your best efforts in mind? Can you take this summer eclipse to stay focused on your goals, while allowing whatever is coming in to come into your life for you?
Last summer I was introduced to eclipse season in a big way. Suddenly I decided to move states, to a city I had only ever visited once as a small child, and to leave my whole life behind. This could feel like a HUGE and frightening change. However, I could feel how supported I was by the energy. It almost felt like I didn’t have a choice. If I didn’t follow these internal awakenings I was having, it actually would have been much harder. Staying and fighting the wave would have cost me more time and energy than actually jumping forward into a new paradigm. And everything worked out! I followed the energy, rode the wave, and landed swiftly in a whole new life intact. I share this story to encourage you to trust and go with the flow of energy this month. If you feel called to something, or have an overwhelming urge, an inkling, lean in. Even if it goes against what you were planning or feels risky. If the momentum is with you, follow the wave.
