SpecialtiesDepression
Depression can have many different effects. Some people feel lack of motivation and struggle to get out of bed. Others will cry frequently and feel alone. Sadness can feel overwhelming and even asking for help can feel like too much work.
When you don't have the energy to get out of bed. When responding to your friends feels like too much work. When the hopelessness is closing in and you can't see a way out. When the fatigue feels crushing like it will never end. When lack of energy turns to losing interest in activities. You are not alone.
What to ExpectDepression is a natural response to someone in pain. It can be physical or emotional, but the feelings are real. When you’re in a dark place it is hard to see the way out.
❋ Reaching OutOvercoming all the barriers you are able to ask for help. That is the first step and in itself you are already less alone.
❋ SharingWhen you share your sadness with someone you no longer have to hold that burden alone.
❋ ReliefLetting go of that burden and releasing unshed tears can provide the relief you didn’t know you needed.
❋ HopeWhen you receive support and express your emotions you will begin to find the light again and experience the possibilities of hope.

How It Works-
How long have you been feeling this way? For how many years have you been thinking and responding with the same patterns? Breaking these cycles and learning new ways to interact can take time.
Initial relief can be immediate when starting therapy, and you may resolve your most pressing symptoms within a few months. Some people will be okay with that and move on until something else comes up, other people enjoy having someone to talk to consistently, to build a relationship with, and to get to the root of their issues to make lifelong changes.
Depending on your goals you can choose to work together for a few months or a few years.

First we’ll do a general check-in to see how you are doing and if there is a pressing concern you would like to address. Then we will get into the meat of addressing the main topic for that session, which may include doing a process to address trauma, or getting more information about your thoughts and feelings around an issue. Finally we will decide what “homework” you would like to work on between sessions.
